THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Back-to-back episodes today! Not going to lie but I think their technological society has many inner problems. No one seems to be safe. However, I can't take that bear Matsumoto seriously lol

This episode takes on an even darker tone than the first one imo. Seems there's violence in their society that may be a common norm. I'm curious to see if this anime will have this darker tone for rest of the season.

That's a targeted killing spree alright from the idiocy of humans against AI.

At least for the bear-infested AI program Matsumoto helping Vivy in this heist, that's no mean feat. But the issues against humans and AI are just the beginning.

Those visuals are gorgeous and look something outta Attack On Titan style, as to be expected from Wit Studio.

Pretty intriguing back-to-back episodes that definitely leave me wanting for more. The 100 year journey of Vivy/Diva to eliminate AIs, an interesting ordeal.

I didn't expect back to back episodes but hey, the more the merrier.
The relationship between humans and AI is taking even darker turn. This is not what anyone would like. These kinds of actions literally spark a war. The technological aspect is pretty advanced but not in a good way. Also, Matsumoto, the AI bear is here. Quite a talkactive one and has an interesting personlaity for an AI. I wanna see how bad the things are going to get between them.
Once again, the animation is really good, Wit is doing an incredible job. Quite a dark episode, wasn't expecting it to turn out that way. Looking forward to more.

Vivy going all out here with a Monokuma look-a-like haha. Seems like they can't always be saving everyone they see, which is the reality.

This is a pretty cool SF anime; tackling AI much like a Ray Bradbury novel. Visuals look very clean, music on point. Ending sequence is also an instrumental, and we don't get to hear those types of endings too often. Good good, looking forward to it.

Back to back episodes, man WIT and Tappei ain’t playing around with this one. People shit on Sigururi, but I loved it, and I’m already loving this one even more. Very interesting Nier-esque/terminator set up. Diva is adorable. There’s a lot of different directions they can take this one. Long as the pacing is done well, this will be great.

So far so good- original concept with interesting characters. I'd like to hear the reasons for the people gave it a score of 1/2. What do you hate about it etc? A score without reasons is pretty useless.

Even if the theme of AI's is not a very original one, I loved how they presented it here. The cold atmosphere with its beautiful visuals makes it for a great experience.

Can't believe we are getting back to back great original anime. From Akudama Drive, to Wonder Egg Priority, to this. Now let's hope this series doesn't fizzle out by the end like the previous two.

I have to say that this finally looks like the work of tappei Nagatsuki, unlike that failed attempt called Sigururi. (Senryoku no Sigrdrifa).

I really do not like the general design of the main character but apart from that I have no complaints.
‘It may be admitted that if it were possible for us to have so deep an insight into a human's way of thinking, as it shows itself both through inner and outer actions, that every, even the least incentive to these actions and all external occasions which affect them, were so known to us, then his future conduct could be predicted as certainly as the appearance of a solar or a lunar eclipse.’ Critique of Practical Reason, p. 230 of the Rosenkranz.

This looked ineteresting. Not music focused and the art is pretty.
I dislike the whole machine thinking they are humans tho (or in the robot case the singing mission being almost like a dream it is trying to make a reality). In animes is badly done. The only show that got this right is Westworld where they mention all the time the algorithms causing it.
I wish that tech was possible nowadays, just out of curiosity. I wanted to see how humans would react to these robots. I mean considering how far too many of us treat pets as more than pets nowadays (which is rather disgusting, honestly) I can see AIs being treated like humans at some point

I felt like watched A class movie. Greatest moment. I got into every scenes. To be honest, I don't know what to write.
Vivy is pretty cool and adorable woman. Matsumoto is funny but cruel man. Looking forward to more story about AI and human's destinies. This show already became one of my favorites. Wit Studio and all staff are doing a stellar job.

Potential Dark Horse of this anime season? It blew me out of the water the first 2 episodes, and is supposedly a collab with Re:Zero's author. I'm expecting a tragedy fest out of this anime.

Other than the last scene which felt too compressed a whiplash and should've been saved for the next episode, this was quite an intriguing premiere. I didn't really have much of a problem with any of the so-called plot devices and heavy expositional dialogue. I like the dynamics between Matsumoto and Diva/Vivy, and I think it may turn out to be a very interesting relationship developing. Lots of heavy sci fi-related topics dropped regarding A.I. and humanity and the complications that come with them, especially regarding the complications of giving human rights to the former in the future. The art actually looks really, really good, especially on the closeups.
I can honestly still see it as something that would potentially crash and burn at the end, but considering it's 4-5 years worth of work on WIT's new project of theirs, I want to have more optimism with this, considering my freefalling impressions regarding Attack on Titan, the very franchise WIT moved on from for a project like this.

Damn, it sucks that Vivy wasn't able to save her friend from that plane explosion. I wonder if we'll continue to see that throughout the show: Vivy wanting to save whoever she can, with Matsumoto interfering so that she doesn't get distracted from the mission that they're trying to accomplish. I'm glad we got a double episode premiere, I think it laid the groundwork for the rest of the series pretty well.
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Not everyone can be saved.

Changing history can be tuff, you're gonna have to let people die. However, Matsumoto is right in saying that history shouldn't be unnecessarily altered.

This is where there 100 year journey begins.

Okay I was a bit hesitant with the first episode but now I'm totally in. The concept is interesting, the story as well, the animation is great and I love the characters interactions (I even cracked a smile when Future Bear (yeah I'll call him like that until I remember his name) joked about Vivy having to consider going on a diet and got disappointed when she took it seriously). Both Vivy and Future Bear are characters I think I'm gonna be invested in and that's a great thing.
Overall this looks very promising, it better not disappoint !

2 eps from the get go? Someone is very privileged.

I thought this would be all rainbows and stuff but it really went from 0 to 100 in the very first episode already. Seeing that Tappei also has a hand in this maybe that will be a better approach this time. I liked Sigururi but it became serious too late in the story imo and story was bit of a mess, maybe this will be more coherent this time around.

I like the concept so far, it's like a mix of Ghost in the Shell and Terminator, Matsumoto's character reminds be of Wheatly from Portal 2 a bit (at least in his cube form). Although I am not sure he could be trusted..what if he is lying and actually cons Vivy into causing the "bad end" for humanity. It was pretty cruel how he didn't let that girl on the plane get saved but I guess time travel principles have to be followed then.

This honestly looks like it could be this season's gem. Very immersive, amazing work by WIT Studio. The visuals are insane at times & the directing is top-notch. The plot is very intriguing too, although heavy, which may turn some people off. This isn't an snack time anime.

Really like Vivy and Matsumoto's interactions, and I feel like the decision to focus on the two while showing glimpses of potential future cast members (like that one terrorist who was saved by her) was a good move.

First we had Great Pretender, and now this anime. WIT is doing a good job on originals, at least the first impression of Vivy was good to me.

I'm interested on the anime, watching mainly because of Matsumoto. But after two episodes I'm asking myself where the role of singing and being an AI idol will fit on this sci-fi plot.

These two episodes checked all the boxes for me. Already really engaged in the story and looking forward how it will all unravel by the end. Hopefully it continues like this.
Great action sequences in this episode. Glad she managed to save the guy but I feel like it will be for nought. He confessed that he doesn't care about the AIs but it seems like Vivy's speech and action caused him to change heart which will inveitable lead to him trying to pass the law sincerely now and in the end succeeding in it.

Hmm Toak look pretty well trained and equipped. Vivy's inexperience in dealing with both humans as well as hostiles really served to complement each other. Matsumoto's little assist though sure proved to be a lifesaver. As reasons go the professors reason for picking Vivy sure was quite random. Still while not agreeing with his speech its nice to see Vivy take more of a lead in the plan though. Her new look certainly does well in showing her new found determination to accomplish the mission though. Though it was a rough mission its nice that they were successful in the end. Overall a pretty action packed ep that proved to be one hell of a intro to the kind of missions that she will be taking on in her teamup with Matsumoto. Looks like though this mission will also be one that will have unfortunate sacrifices though. The relationship between Matsumoto and Vivy though sure is proving to be pretty fun. Curious at what will happen next as its arre to see orginal work have back to back episodes.

I think this show has the most potential for me right now. The way Wit animates it is amazing, and the production is stellar. Music, visuals, etc. The info dump in the first episode scared me for a bit-- tappei isn't the greatest at condensing his dialogue.-- but the second episode was great. The dialogue quirks he gives his characters like the bear talking fast because he's rushing against time to save humanity is great.

I'm calling it, this is the dark horse of the season. The whole musical AI's part is so great to watch, IMO the thing I would love to see now would be an immersive cyberpunk world. That would really compliment the narrative and make it a lot more fun to watch. Having no other complaints so far TBH.

WiT's really doing this series some good. I wouldn't, mind that Vinland Saga seaskn 2 an year or two later now if this series is done the justice.

It was kind of a popcorn episode, lots of explosions, running, and reiterating the premise from the previous episode in a much more palatable package. This would have definitely been improved if these two episode had been only one, with almost all of the cutting come from the first episode. I do think introducing being able to hack people's vision and replace it with literally anything they feel like was a bad idea and I hope they just forget it exists. Similarly with her casually having an arm ripped off while practicing fighting. Yeah, she's a robot, grievous bodily harm was going to happen eventually, but we could have saved that for a better moment. Or any moment. Also a bit unclear what they're doing with that one non-generic non-boss on the terrorist side. Is he going to be a recurring character? Design and the building-falling meet-cute screams (racist) love interest, but I really don't think that's what the show needs.

Goooooooooooooosh I hate that bear. He's expositive, convenient and annoying in equal portions.
1st- We don't need him to explain every freaking step that Vivy makes, the direction is actually good enough for us to understand
2nd- Shut the fuck up, this bear not only wants to compete with Nami Yo Kiitekure or Tatami Galaxy, but also has the most annoying voice I've heard in a while
3rd- The bear does whatever he wants basically

Otherwise, production values are insane, photography is completely excepcional and sound design has great ideas that are sometimes counterintuitive. OST really fits with the futuristic theme of the anime while still being impressive when it needs so. Also the story is quite compelling, though it seems to be episodic. The universe is really interesting, it was functional in making me understand the basic concepts of an AI and use them for the story, and that ending was shocking.

Vivy is awesome and truely autonomous.

The music of this episode reminded me of Metal Gear.

Really sad about Vivy's little sister I hope someone recovered her mind and saved it for a transfer to a full prosthetic body.

P.S. I'm strongly against AIs to have same humans rights.

Really like the almost existential vibe this show has in the first 2 episodes.
What makes a human human? Ghost in the Shell type philosophy.
Does AI deserve death? Can you really consider it human as well?

Also purpose, if the purpose of AI is to serve humans, then what went wrong in the future?
Did AI just get sick of following orders?
This part gave me lot of Nier:Automata vibes.

Visuals, and soundtrack are great.
Story so far is really good, can't wait to see where it goes from here.
I hope they can maintain the quality of the story throughout.
